Thursday started as a pretty normal day but all that changed when the news reported 97 bushfires burning in Rural Sydney, 27 of which were out of control and destroying everything they came across.

The fires that most threatened my home were the Lithgow fires (west of the Great Dividing Range) and the Mount Victoria Fire (Blue Mountains). Several hundred homes have been lost already but, miraculously, no one was killed. As Thursday came to an end everyone thoughts the fires would be under control by Saturday.

Oh how wrong could we be?

The Lithgow fire has flared up again and is burning through Lithgow. Everyone in Bilpin (the town before Lithgow) have been evacuated to Kurrajong (where I am) but everyone still in Lithgow have been told its too late to run. The main roads are closed, residents only. My dad and I went up to see how far the fire was from our house before we needed to worry, we barely made it to the main part of Bilpin before we were turned around.

Bilpin is 13-20 kilometers away from Kurrajong and thus far we have been told we are safe.

Anyone in Bilpin/Kurrajong/Blue Mountains that hasn't gotten ready to leave I adivise you to pack a bag with what you need to support yourself for a while, but only what you need then if you can fit anything else bring it, but do not overload yourself with too many things for if things come to worse, you need to be able to evacuate fast.

Weather conditions are only going to get worse, so prepare for Armageddon, because it may very well be for some.

I wish everyone in the affected/danger areas luck.
